Education Secretary intervenes on Surrey SEND

The Education Secretary has agreed to intervene with Surrey County Council on conduct issues and alleged maladministration and a breakdown of accountability on SEND. She will be meeting with Rachel Wardell, the Director of Children’s Services. 

This only happened because parents had the courage to speak out (reported by ITV), now followed by headteachers too. I have published over 100 family testimonies of lawbreaking, lying and gaslighting by Surrey County Council which is wrecking children’s lives and I delivered to the Education Secretary with parents and Al Pinkerton.

I have written back to her asking for the terms of reference, and raising my concerns that the independent expert appointed by Surrey County Council to investigate the same department’s failures over the murder of Sara Sharif does not appear to be independent as an ex colleague of the Children Services Director. I have also invited the Education Secretary to a SEND coffee morning with parents.
