Chris urges government to protect pubs and small businesses

The Abinger Hatch pub is seeing its business rates soar. They’ve already shut their second pub, the Six Bells after the employer National Insurance rise - pubs and restaurants are in crisis from tax rises. I spoke to BBC Surrey this week about how they are suffering from rising costs, already losing 6 members of staff, and called the government to rethink. I’m glad the government has announced it is rethinking business rates, but it shouldn’t take pubs going to the wall for them to act.
