“My child now has PTSD, has lost the full use of their arm and is covered in scars from failed suicide attempts.” 

This is one of 195 shocking references to suicide submitted in 653 family testimonies of harmful, unethical or unlawful behaviour by 114 local authorities on SEND. I asked the School’s Minister last night not to reduce EHCP rights at a time when families’ trust in local authority governance has collapsed.

She replied that “families are also very clear that we need a system that protects their legal right to additional support in education.” This is possibly the furthest a Minister has gone so far on protecting EHCP rights.
