Jennifer Chalkley, my constituent who was autistic, died of avoidable suicide aged seventeen in October 2021. Her mum, Sharren Bridges has made it her life’s work to save others.
Today I asked the Chancellor to commit to fund children’s mental health services and the Department for Education properly to end the SEND crisis in this country and that, if she did, I could go back to Jen’s mum and tell her that her daughter’s death had not been in vain.
