Chris addresses asylum seeker hotels in Horley

Horley protest

I know people are worried about asylum seeker hotels following news about this nationally. I have written to the Home Secretary asking her what the government’s plans are to close or reduce asylum seeker hotels in my constituency. Asylum seekers also deserve to be treated with dignity and respect have their claims processed faster. This is a mess from the previous government. I am working closely with the Police- I spoke with them today. The Police are maintaining a visible presence to keep Horley safe. I was reassured that the Police acted extremely promptly in an incident a few weeks ago- they are taking this very seriously. I’m also deeply concerned by constituents reporting an increase in racism and online hate - this will not be tolerated and I’ve asked the Police to look at it too. I’m so proud that Horley is a compassionate and respectful place and I’m sure it will remain so.
