Chris welcomes funding for brain tumour treatment research

Last year, I spoke about Billy, my constituent who was 4 years old when he passed away from an incurable brain tumour, I urged the government to support research into finding a cure. I’m pleased the government has now allocated £13.7million in funding research to improve how new treatments for brain tumours are developed Investing in research for rare cancers not only benefits children who suffer from these horrific diseases, but also increases the UK's clinical research and development capability more broadly.

Chris urges for intervention in pharmacy crisis

Frith pharmacy in Dorking, and many other community pharmacies, are at breaking point. If the government does not intervene soon, this important service will disappear from our high streets. Many independent pharmacies often have to buy prescription drugs from the NHS for more than they sell it. I spoke to BBC South East last night, alongside Georgina Frith, about my concerns over the alarming rate of community pharmacies closing down. I have also written to the Health Secretary urging him to intervene.

Chris brings key service back to Dorking

Audiology services will be back at Dorking Community Hospital from this Monday. It's wonderful news for hundreds of people in our community who were left stranded when they were shut without warning over the summer. I ran a petition and brought in ITV to put pressure on the Integrated Care Board to sort it out. I'm pleased they now have and say that they'll learn from this experience. Hopefully everyone who needs audiology services will now be able to access them here again.

I’m shocked that David Setters, who has motor neurone disease, is not eligible for a free Covid vaccine, unlike last year. I’ve spoken to the BBC and written to the health secretary. It costs £100 privately.

Chris shares Billy's devastating experience with cancer

It was inspiring and hard to speak last night about my constituents Ellie, Jamie, their daughter Maddie and their son Billy’s devasting experience with cancer. Chris brings audiology services back to Dorking

Over 700 people signed our petition for Dorking NHS audiology to reopen and I brought in ITV to pile on the pressure and suggest Specsavers as a solution. I’m delighted that it now will reopen with Specsavers providing the NHS services in Dorking, and more complex cases being referred to Epsom Hospital. Thank you to everyone who supported this campaign!
